Whitewater Rescue Technician

Description:
This is the outdoor equivalent of the swift water technician 1 (SRT 1) training and specially designed for outdoor professionals.

In this training the participants learn the risks that play an important role involving whitewater rescue and how to deal with them. Parts that will be discussed theoretically are: hydrology and the effects on amongst others, kayaks and rafts,loads and forces , incident management on a small scale, making decisions and dealing with risks, performing search and rescue and support of rescue teams in a wilderness environment. This course goes deep into the correct use of throw bags and lines. Participants learn how to build mechanical advantage and how to hoist a boat, how to perform evacuations with primitive means, how they can secure someone on a steep bank, how they can work safely on a leash from the shore and in water. Participants will practice with extensive rescue swimming, helping people who are stuck in the water, the creation of rescue and evacuation platforms with a raft or kayaks to transport the wounded. Attention will be devoted to saving people from stopper wave and weirs.

Throughout the course we only use materials that rafters or kayakers can actually carry. It is therefore a must, to use lightweight multifunctional resources and are essential in the rescue kit of every white water athletes. Prussiks, carabiners, knife and throwing-bags are essential for this group. 

The course will also focus on trip planning and trip preparation. This training is a must for any kayaker / rafter or outdoor sports instructor and a global leader in whitewater rafting safety and rescue. This course is internationally recognized!
